First podium of the season for Rexal FFF Racing Team in Monza
19th April 2021
Rexal FFF Racing Team started well its 2021 campaign Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe, in its comeback to the one-make series organized by the Italian manufacturer. The first round took place at Monza, where the Chinese team fielded the #8 Huracán Super Trofeo Evo for the father-and-son crew composed of Donovan and Luciano Privitelio.
The Italian-French drivers kicked off in a promising way their first full-time season in the Super Trofeo, competing in the gentlemen-oriented Lamborghini Cup class. At the end of Friday’s free practice sessions, they covered a total amount of 42 laps, gaining confidence with the car, the tyres and the track known as the “Temple of Speed”, setting a best time of 1:52.693. As foreseen in the regulation, Luciano and Donovan split driving duties for the qualifying sessions on Saturday morning, taking part in Q1 and Q2 respectively. Luciano set a personal fastest lap of 1:55.610, third best in Lamborghini Cup, while Donovan lowered the benchmark to 1:52.747 during the second segment, as second fastest in his class.
Saturday evening the Rexal FFF Racing Team duo put on a solid performance in Race 1, with Luciano at the wheel during the first stint and Donovan succeeding him after the mandatory pit-stop, crossing the line as 3rd in the Lamborghini Cup standings. In Sunday’s race 2, unfortunately, a contact with another car brought Luciano off the track during the second stint, forcing him to retire on lap 15 while he was leading among the Lamborghini Cup contenders.
Next stop for Rexal FFF Racing Team in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe season is planned on 28-30th May at Le Castellet in France, where Donovan and Luciano Privitelio made last year their first appearance in the series winning race 2 in the Lamborghini Cup trophy, with the technical support from FFF Racing by ACM.
