Orange1 FFF Racing Team eager to go back to action for the GT World Challenge Europe fight at the Nürburgring
1st September 2021
Orange1 FFF Racing Team is about to fire up its engines again in the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS Endurance Cup. After the TotalEnergies 24 Hours of Spa effort and the summer break, the Chinese operation will tackle the fourth round in the 2021 calendar at the Nürburgring with its two Lamborghini Huracàn GT3 Evo cars on 3-5 September weekend.
Mirko Bortolotti, Andrea Caldarelli and Marco Mapelli, at the wheel of the #63 entry, will try to conquer their first win of the season to stay among the title contenders, ahead of the final round in Barcelona. They already proved their potential with the pole positions set at Monza and Le Castellet, where they also stepped on the podium.
Moreover, the team has good memories of the German circuit, as Caldarelli and Mapelli took a victory and a podium in 2019, when the Nürburgring hosted a Sprint event. At the end of that year, Orange1 FFF Racing Team delivered a still-unmatched triple title topping the Overall, Endurance and Sprint standings in what is now called the GT World Challenge Europe.
The #19 Lamborghini will see in action, as usual, Hiroshi Hamaguchi and Phil Keen, ready to compete for the honours in the Pro-Am class where they can still clinch the title as well, thanks to the addition of Stefano Costantini, who joined the team for the Spa 24 Hours.
The weekend’s schedule is going to feature the official free practice session on early Saturday morning, starting from 8:30, and the Pre-Qualifying at 12:55 to continue the set-up work. On Sunday, Qualifying will kick off at 8:30, while the 3-hour race will begin at 14:45.
Fu Songyang, Team Owner Orange1 FFF Racing Team by ACM
“We are looking forward to going back on track and fighting for a great result, as we want to continue our title hunt. We already displayed our potential with the Lamborghini Huracàn GT3 Evo, but some circumstances prevented us to collect as many points as we deserved, especially in the 24 Hours of Spa. Now we’ll try to use this factor as a motivation boost to approach this weekend at the Nürburgring, keeping in mind we will face strong competition and that the weather could be unpredictable”.
