Rexal FFF Racing Team scores another podium finish and more points in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe at the Nürburgring
5th September 2021
Rexal FFF Racing Team gave continuation to its point-scoring streak and clinched another podium in the Lamborghini Cup class of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe. The famous Nürburgring track hosted the fifth round of the 2021 season last weekend, with Donovan and Luciano Privitelio faced with another new and challenging venue in their racing adventure.
The father-and-son crew showed more progress in Germany, as Donovan set the fastest lap time among the Lamborghini Cup contenders during Saturday’s qualifying 1. In race 1, he was leading the category when he got involved in a contact with a rival car, which cost a 5-second penalty and compromised a great drive. His father Luciano took the wheel of the #8 Huracàn after the mandatory pit stop, but was also unlucky, suffering another contact in the last lap that made him lose one place. He still managed to reach the chequered flag as fifth in the Lamborghini Cup.
Race 2 proved smoother for the Rexal FFF Racing Team duo, with Luciano driving during the first stint and Donovan in the second half. Both were satisfied with their rhythm and consistency, getting a deserved reward with the third position. Donovan went off the pit lane as fifth, be he kept a very fast and solid pace to beat his direct rivals. This prompted their sixth Lamborghini Cup podium appearance of the year, counting as well the victory in Race 2 at Le Castellet last May.
Rexal FFF Racing Team has now some weeks ahead to prepare the last meeting of the year in Misano, on the occasion of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo World Finals on 28-29 October.
Andrea Caldarelli, Team Principal Rexal FFF Racing Team
“Donovan and Luciano scored more valuable points in the Lamborghini Cup class, and even an additional podium, but most of all they are continuously growing at the wheel of our Huracàn. The help of Tonio Liuzzi as coach driver is proving instrumental, but their approach is absolutely right. I would also like to underline that this was their first time racing here at the Nürburgring. There’s satisfaction in our team and we’re looking forward to ending the season on a high note in Misano”.
