Useful experience for Rexal FFF Racing Team in the Italian GT Championship outing at Mugello

11th October 2021

Rexal FFF Racing Team enjoyed a useful second outing of the year in the 2021 Italian Gran Turismo Championship. The Chinese squad fielded its Lamborghini Huracàn Super Trofeo Evo at the Mugello circuit Sprint round, giving its drivers Donovan and Luciano Privitelio a valuable opportunity to gain more mileage, aside the usual committment in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe.

The father-and-son duo competed in the GT Cup class, tailored for mono-brand trophy cars. Donovan made so his debut on the Italian GT grid, while his father Luciano raced already in the previous Rexal FFF Racing Team appearance at Misano last June.

After a total of 44 laps covered during the free practice sessions on Friday, Saturday morning featured the qualifying segments. Luciano drove in Q1 with a 1’55″078 personal best lap, ending as 12th among the GT Cup contenders, while Donovan lowered the benchmark to 1’52″862 in Q2, being class-sixth.

The Privitelio crew then completed race 1 and race 2 as 10th and 12th in the GT Cup class respectively, fighting against more experienced drivers on a track where they never competed before this weekend, supported by the experience of Vitantonio Liuzzi, former Formula 1 driver, as coach driver.

This weekend will enable Rexal FFF Racing Team to prepare even better the Lamborghini Super Trofeo World Finals scheduled on 28-31 October at Misano, where Donovan and Luciano will conclude their first full season in the Lamborghini one-make series.

Andrea Caldarelli, Team Principal Rexal FFF Racing Team
“We observed promising stuff from Donovan and Luciano during this weekend at the Mugello. They delivered a good job in a different championship than usual, facing strong opponents and a very demanding track. They relied again on Tonio Liuzzi as coach driver, but as we said often during the year, Donovan and Luciano have the right approach to take the most from this precious help. This is exactly what we expect from them here at Rexal FFF Racing Team. Now we turn our focus to Lamborghini Super Trofeo World Finals at the end of the month”.
